Interests
One of the most interesting projects I am working on at OSU has been
continuing the transgenic honeybee work that Dr. Holly Ferguson began with
Sue Cobey. This has included learning the basics on collecting drone
semen, queen rearing, queen insemination, queen introduction into indoor
flightroom, and isolation of potential positive progeny. I have also done
behavioral studies with honeybees involving backward learning using the
PER. The majority of my molecular work is done in the neurobiotechnology
center with Dr. Vaessin, and include basic molecular biology techniques
some adapted specifically for the honey bee. My other project is the isolation
of a dopamine receptor from the bee brain.
