Plum Brook is located south of Sandusky, Ohio, approximately five miles from Lake Erie. The habitat is mixed; some areas have not been disturbed for 50 years, while some areas are still in use. Throughout the 52 acres of the station, almost any type of habitat typical to northern Ohio exists. Mowing is extensive in some areas, and had a noticeable effect on some butterfly populations. There is a very extensive deer population, which affected some of the native vegitation.
